Camping at Table Rock State Park
>> Monday, October 6, 2008
This past weekend we went camping. We took the kid's out of school at noon on Friday and went up to Table Rock State Park in the north west section of South Carolina. We got a site next to our friends the O'Briens and we had a blast! The O'Briens also have three children. William is in Matthew's class at school, Shawn is 6 and Mary Elizabeth is 5.
We went on a 2 mile hike on Saturday which the kid's loved! Climbing the hills, jumping rocks in the streams (trying not to slip in,) finding smooth rocks and snakes were a few of the highlights. The weather couldn't have been any better! Lots of sunshine, but never too hot. Saturday night we went star gazing, well as long as the kid's would allow anyway. They weren't real big on sitting still and quiet. Lots of campfires, walks, and nothing! It was so nice to "be away from it all."
Sunday, after we packed up, we drove a bit north into North Carolina to Whitewater Falls.
A BEAUTIFUL waterfall that starts in North Carolina and ends in South Carolina. It is 411' feet long!!! On the way home we drove through Clemson and got to see Carolina's rival school for the first time.
It was a great weekend! We can't wait to do it again!
