Saturday = Soccer

Spring soccer is in full swing and the boys are loving it. Ethan played this morning and had so much fun on the field. His league is for three and four year olds. Last year he would get frustrated because he was three and one of the smaller guys out there so it was hard to keep up. This year, it’s a different story, he’s one of the bigger guys and he loves the feeling of being able to dominate the field!!

He goes after the ball with such determination!!

Double 11’s. Ethan played against his buddy from preschool, Timmy, and they had the same number! Showing off his fancy footwork. SCORE!!!

Matthew had a long day of soccer. Team photo’s started his day followed by a game at 12:45 and another one at 6:00.

Matthew has that same determined look that Ethan has. I guess it’s in the genes.

His team won the first game 3-1, but suffered a tough loss in the second game…. (some could argue that the reff. was a relative of someone on the other team in the second game)

If you’re looking for us on a Saturday, chances are, we’re on the soccer field watching our boys!

Birthday Party Camping!

We celebrated Matthew’s 11th birthday at Sesquicentennial State Park with SeVEn of his friends. That’s right, we had 8 5th grade boys, overnight, in the woods. It was exhausting, but so much fun!!!

After pizza and some time playing in the woods, we had the boys build marshmallow shooters. Dave and Matthew prepared all of the supplies earlier in the week so the kids could each make their own. They had so much fun with these! They were a huge hit with the kids AND the adults who were there. I think the squirrels loved them too, I’m sure as soon as we left they had a marshmallow feast!!

We sang Happy Birthday to Matthew by the fire.

Alyssa had Maddie come and stay for the night so she wouldn’t be the only girl. They were at a youth group event at church for most of the night, but got in on the action later in the evening. They were true campers, Dave made them set up their own tent!

In the morning, after breakfast, we had the kids blow up balloons with baking soda and vinegar. They loved this too.

On Saturday night, after all of the boys had gone home, Trish and Kali came for dinner and s'mores. It was a much quieter evening than the previous one!
