Space Shuttle Discovery

 

Last Friday we picked the kids up from school and hit the road.... destination, Florida!

  Dave's sister, Kristen and family were/are vacationing in Orlando for two weeks so we planned to go to Sea World with them on Saturday.   We found out on Friday afternoon that the Space Shuttle was scheduled to launch on Fri. night at 11:59 from Kennedy Space Center.  This was their third attempt to launch this week, so obviously, there was no guarantee that it would go.  We decided we would go and hope and pray that it would actually launch.  We got to the park at 11:30, stood with hundreds of other excited people for 30 min. and then watched the Space Shuttle Discovery launch!!!!  So Cool!!!!  Because it was night time and so dark we mainly saw light, lots and lots of light!!!  But still, such a neat experience.  I'm so glad the kid's got the opportunity to see it!

 Alyssa and Matthew are back in school, but Ethan doesn't start preschool until next week.  We had a great week and spent some fun mommy and Ethan time.  The other day he asked if we could make cookies, so we did!   He was such a good super hero helper!!

School is Exhausting!

AND THEY'RE OFF

 

And they're off... to another great school year!!!!  

Alyssa is officially a Middle Schooler this year and is very happy about that!!!  She loves her teachers, her schedule of classes and the fact that almost all of her closest friends are in her homeroom.  Doesn't get much better than that!!!  We are excited to see all that this year has for her!

This is it, Matthew's last year as an elementary student!!  He is happy to be the "big man on campus" this year in the 5th grade!!  He also loves his teachers (same one's that Alyssa had last year), classes and the friends he has in class this year.  He's also looking forward to signing up for several clubs that the school offers.   Go get 'em Matthew!!

End of summer vacation

To celebrate the end of summer vacation and the beginning of a new school year the kids invited several of their friends over for a pool party!!  Somehow I ended up with horrible pictures from the entire day...  it really was a fun way to end the summer, I just didn't capture it very well.

Ethan Swims Laps!!

About two or three weeks ago, Ethan decided that arm floaties were SO yesterday. Made for 2 year olds and NOT for him. He said "I can do it myself and I won't even sink!" He was right!!! He's swimming both above and below the water and so proud of himself!! Our pool is 32 ft long and he swam 4 laps tonight!!! Time for some real swimming lessons for him. We started them last year, but he broke his arm and couldn't finish. Go Ethan!!!

POOL PARTY!

 

Summer is passing so quickly!!  School starts in just 11 short days!!  We decided this weekend to have some friends over for a pool party and cook out before the fall schedule takes us all over! 

Great decision.  

We had so much fun with our friends.  The kids had a blast in the pool, skateboarding, running through the yard, building lego's and roasting marshmallows.  The adults enjoyed good food and time to relax with friends.

 With less than 2 weeks until the start of 5th grade,  Matthew said goodbye to 4th grade by burning his workbooks and papers!!

We experienced flies like never before!!!  They were horrible.  Maria said, "Why don't you hang a bag of water.?  That will take care of them."  I laughed, but decided to give it a try anyway. 

It worked!!!  I don't know how and I don't know why, but the flies left us alone for the rest of the night!!!  Who knew?????
