The End of 3 Year Old Preschool

 

Ethan’s class celebrated the end of the year at preschool.  The kid’s had fun eating lots of snacks and playing with their buckets full of surprises.

Ethan is thrilled that the year is over!!!  He does not enjoy going to school, he’d much rather stay home.  We’re going to try a different preschool in the fall and see if it fits him a little better.   Until then, No Ethan, today you do not have to go to school!!

Our Weekend

Our weekend began on Friday night at the Blythefest with friends. 

Matthew decided to see what he would look like as a red head and yellow and blue…..

After the Blythefest we came back to our house with friends so the kids could swim and have ice cream. 

Saturday morning, Dave and Matthew went to the backpacking store for a session on cooking and eating on the trail.  They leave for their big trip in less than a month!!  Alyssa left for 7 hours of dance in the morning and Ethan had his final soccer game of the season. 

 So happy to receive his trophy!

One last time…. GO BADGERS!!

     

Sunday morning, Dave and Matthew went for a hike (conditioning) and then we all went to church.  After church we went to lunch and then to the “big” library.    The afternoon was spent outside.   The kids swam while Dave sprayed for bugs and I fertilized and watered the pots and garden.

Mother’s Day on Kings Mountain

 

We decided to go for a hike on King’s Mountain for Mother’s Day.  It was a beautiful day, probably the coolest day we’ll have until next October!   There was a little whining and some complaining, but for the most part we had happy children.  

“Happy Mudders Day Mommy!!!”  Ethan picked about 25 flowers while hiking and each time he would bring them to me and wish me a Happy Mudders Day!

   

  

We came across a group of Revolutionary War reenactors in the woods.  These guys crack me up.  They get together as often as they can and play war!

 Our first hike was in the National Military Park with a paved trail.  The kids were extremely unimpressed with the pavement…. who goes hiking in the woods on pavement??The boys loved climbing the rocks!

After hiking the National trail we drove over to the State Park and hiked a little there too.  The kids were much happier with the more natural surroundings.  

Matthew wore his backpack with a little bit of weight in it.  He was “practicing” for the 77 mile hike that he’s going to take with Dave this summer.

We found this great waterfall that the kids love playing at.   Matthew found a snake, but it got away before he could identify it.
