South Carolina’s Very Own Winter Wonderland
>> Tuesday, February 23, 2010
It started snowing on Feb. 12th and didn’t stop until Feb. 13th. Almost unheard of in Columbia, South Carolina. There were some reports of over 8 inches in Columbia. I’m sure we had at least 6 at our house!
We woke up on Saturday morning and quickly got dressed to go out and play in our very own winter wonderland! (Matthew had spent the night at his friend Ben’s house, so he wasn’t with us until the afternoon.) It was so strange to see snow covered palm trees and snow all around the pool. We knew we had to move fast because the Carolina sun was on it’s way up and was sure to melt this white stuff fast!!! We went for a walk in our neighborhood and then drove over over to the YMCA to sled on the hills there. Later in the day we went to one of the Country Clubs in our neighborhood with some friends. Most people here don’t have sleds or snowboards so we there were lots of boogie boards, pool tubes, trash can lids and cookie sheets on the hills. So much fun!!
