ELLIS ISLAND AND THE STATUE OF LIBERTY
>> Thursday, June 18, 2009
We took a road trip to Freedom Park, NJ on Wednesday. From there we took the ferry over to Ellis Island and then on to see the Statue of Liberty. It was a bit chilly and definitely cloudy, but we were spared the rain and we had a great time!!
Ellis Island from the ferry
Alyssa on Ellis Island
Ethan was thrilled because he could climb this tree all by himself. Usually he needs a boost, but this one was low enough for him!
Me.... cleaning bird poop off of my pants! Gross!!!!
We found the names of my Great Grandparents, Michael and Aniela Cwikla Kurys on the wall of honor.
We also found a Scamardella from Dave's family.
Matthew standing against the wall of honor.
Dave and Alyssa (still suffering from a sore ankle) searching for names.
The registration building
One of the dormitories. They could fit WAY too many people in there.
Waiting for the ferry to take us to the Statue of Liberty.
Ethan can find fun wherever he goes!
Ethan can also find a place to rest wherever he goes, even if it is on the nasty, dirty ground with hundreds of people standing around him!
One of the ferry boats. I don't know what is considered maximum capacity, but I'm pretty sure they met it!!!!
Climbing... Always!
Lots of boats and ships
Ethan was sure this one was Captain Hook's ship!
