HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

>> Saturday, July 5, 2008

Our choices were go to another Peach Festival and parade, stay home and work on some projects or go to the beach with friends. The latter of the 3 won without much debate.
Our friends Lou and Margaret belong to the Sand Dunes Club on Sullivan's Island. They were so nice to invite us to come along for the 4th. The weather was perfect, the beach was beautiful and the pool was oh so much fun! We started with some time on the beach. Playing in the sand and the water. We went up and ate our lunch on a beautiful porch in the shade and then hit the pool for the afternoon. It's a huge pool with a great water slide and diving board. The kid's all had a blast. Ethan was amazing! I don't know how he lasted as long as he did. For HOURS he was jumping off of the diving board and sliding down the slide. He had to climb the stairs to the slide each time and he must have done it at least 50 times during the day. As soon as he would get to the bottom he'd say, "My go again!" Alyssa and Matthew were very helpful and went up with him several times. After a little while he decided he could do it himself, and he did. Only problem was he is so light that we would hear him thumping and hitting the sides of the slide on the way down because it was tossing him in every direction. He came out upside down and head first many times. Still his smile was huge and it was back to the top again! Matthew spent a lot of time perfecting his dive and flips and lucky Alyssa is still there having fun because she got to stay overnight with Lou, Margaret and Marissa and go back again today!
We headed home around dinner time because Matthew had plans to launch fireworks with his friend Hunter. We weren't sure if they would be able to as we had some pretty ugly storms rolling around us. Fortunately they didn't hit us and the boys were able to have fun with fire!
It was a great day but now it's time for those "projects" that we decided not to do yesterday.

So glad this was on the way home and not while we were there!
