Week 6

The lumber that we patiently waited for finally arrived, but, so did the rain….

It’s been dry for weeks, water levels are 9 inches below where they should be. 

So it makes complete sense that as soon as they tore into the side of the house, it rained!! 

They covered it in plastic, but the plastic leaked, or the water just went around it.  Either way, when it rained, it rained outside and inside the house!!!  They came back and fixed the plastic.  It rained again. It leaked again.  The inside is quite wet by now.  Fortunately for everyone, most of what got wet was going to get ripped out anyway.

Construction and night out 103Construction and night out 092The boys standing in what will be one of their bedrooms. Construction and night out 094Whoever gets this room will be looking out on a palm tree.  Nice. Construction and night out 101 We panicked a bit, or maybe it was a lot, on Saturday morning when we walked through what they had done and looked at the square footage that we would have.  It didn’t look like it was going to be nearly enough, or what we had planned on.  We called our builder and he came right over.  (I’m sure by now he thinks we’re nuts… or at least me.  I’m the one here all day watching what they’re doing and  sounding much  like my 4 year old with the “why’s?” and “what’s that?” and “how much longer?”)   We talked over our concerns and he showed us and explained how it would work.  We’re going to add a dormer to the front  and split the rooms a little differently than we had originally planned.  Phew crisis averted. 

Week 6 done and amazingly, I think we still like our builder.  Excited to see what week 7 will look like!
